Serving on the Emergency Management and Veterans Affairs Board, and prior to that the Economic Development Board of the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania has given me valuable insight on proactive measures benefiting county taxpayers. One of my most memorable accomplishments was serving on the Derry Township Industrial Commercial Development Authority which built the GIANT Center - home of the Hershey Bears, and I am a founding member of the Hershey New Years Eve event which attracts upwards of 10,000 people annually to ring in the New Year. Volunteering and providing assistance to various community groups has enabled me to see how vitally important the work they do is to help residents who are in their time of greatest need. I have over 30 years of community service experience ranging from serving on local boards and committees, coaching little league baseball, 5 years as a Derry Township supervisor, to 3 terms as commissioner while working with state and federal officials to bring top quality programs and several hundred million dollars in funding to our county. We do not take our jobs lightly, we understand the significance of what we are responsible for - a $381 million overall annual budget, 1,500 employees in 43 departments and working with county and local elected officials and the 40 municipalities representing our 286,000 residents. I have also been honored to be elected by my colleagues to serve in the role as chairman of the board of commissioners since 2021. It is a privilege to be serving you as one of your county commissioners.
